AI Builders Week - Builders Week in a Box

    Overview

The content in this toolkit is targeted specifically at product managers and designers, but many of the practices for rolling out and applying transformation can be adapted for other crafts.

At Atlassian, we run AI Builders Week once every quarter. Teams put their pencils down and focus on AI upskilling and training for one week out of the quarter. This dedicated time helps teams embed changes within their own workflows. This toolkit reflects how we structure our weeks, but everything here can be applied in different ways. For example, you might run AI upskilling on one Friday every month, or at a different rhythm that suits your organization. The tenets still apply.

Across the toolkit, we use the word "build" to describe practical work teams do to apply what they have learned. A build might be a prototype, workflow, template, process change, or demo: something tangible teams can share to show how they are applying AI in their own environment.

To be effective, regardless of whether you structure your AI transformation training in a day, two days, weeks, or months, there are a few concepts that are globally applicable. Before you jump into your transformation, here are the three tenets we found create powerful AI adoption.

    Leadership support

Ask leaders to explain why the program matters and protect time for teams to participate.

    Training content

Choose the concepts, tools, responsible-use guidance, and evals practices your teams need first.

    Hands-on application

Plan exercises where teams use AI on discovery, prototyping, delivery, measurement, or operations work.
