Facilitator notes
Before you run the program, make these two decisions:
1. Recruit executive sponsors
Ask leaders to protect time for the program. This may mean canceling standing meetings, reducing other commitments, or making learning part of the delivery plan.
2. Define target outcomes
Decide how you will know the program worked. Choose measures that match your goals, such as:
- Number of workflows changed or automated
- Active usage of the tools you are teaching
- Number of prototypes created
- Number of attendees who feel confident applying AI to daily work

Designing AI Builders Week
Start by creating dedicated time for teams to learn. Most people will not build new habits if training has to compete with normal delivery work.
Use the principles below to design your own program. The Atlassian examples show what worked for us. Adapt the format, tools, and level of technical depth for your teams.
Principles
Make the learning hands-on
Design sessions around practice, not passive listening. Ask people to work in pairs or teams so they can agree on changes together.
Use real workflows
Ask teams to bring real work into the program. Good examples include repeated tasks, customer workflows, prototypes, data questions, or review processes.
Plan how teams will share
Create a channel or forum where people can ask questions, share examples, and post failed attempts. This helps learning spread beyond the people in each session.
Use internal experts and mentors
Recruit people who already use the tools well. Ask them to demo realistic workflows, mentor teams during build time, and answer questions in the context of your organization.
Choose the tools you want teams to use
At Atlassian, we use Atlassian AI tools in our own work. In your organization, choose the tools you want teams to adopt and explain why those tools matter.
