Showcases and demos
Facilitator notes
Use the showcase to help teams share what they built and what they learned. The format can be a demo day, a shorter share-out, or a recurring team meeting. The goal is learning, not a polished launch event.
1. Identify strong facilitators
Choose facilitators who can keep the session clear, positive, and on schedule.
2. Keep the format lightweight and fun
Keep demos short. Ask participants to pre-record if you want a smoother session or a record people can watch later.
3. And of course, prizes
Choose a few award categories before the build portion starts so teams know what to aim for.
Demos help teams learn from each other. Ask participants to share what worked, what failed, and what skills they gained. Keep the focus on learning rather than delivery.
Award category ideas
We recommend creating monetary or physical prizes that you can award to teams to promote celebration and enthusiasm for AI transformation.
We have found that picking two or three award categories that match your internal goals is a powerful way to drive strong outcomes from the week, rather than encouraging general AI exploration. Some of the award categories we have used successfully are listed below for inspiration.
Boldest idea or best fail
Celebrates the team that took the most ambitious swing. What matters is the courage and the learning - whether or not it actually shipped.
Works well when: teams are just getting started - it reduces the fear of failing in public.
Best use of AI
The most creative or effective use of your AI tooling - the build others will want to copy.
Works well when: you want to reward genuine skill-building with the tools. Good for any group.
Biggest workflow shift
The team that most changed how they actually work - a genuine shift in their day-to-day process, not just what they built.
Works well when: teams have had time to rethink their ways of working.
Crowd favorite
Decided by audience vote. A simple way to celebrate the demo that resonated most with the room.
Works well when: always - it boosts energy and gets everyone involved.
Impact at scale
Recognises work that reaches beyond one team - reusable, repeatable, and something others can adopt.
Works well when: your group is more experienced and building for broad impact.
Best team collaboration
Honours the strongest teamwork across roles and crafts during the build.
Works well when: you want to reinforce cross-functional ways of working.
Just getting started?
Keep it simple. Start with just two or three categories - "Boldest idea or best fail" paired with "Crowd favorite" is a great combination because it rewards courage and participation over polish. That takes the pressure off first-time builders and keeps the focus on learning, not delivery. You can always add more specific categories as your teams grow more confident.
